Staffing Award Winner
Julianne B., a temporary employee from The Resource Connection, Inc. (TRC) was named 2021 Staffing Employee of the Year by the Massachusetts Staffing Association (MSA). The award was presented by MSA at a virtual event held Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Julianne was selected out of 12 finalists nominated by their respective staffing agencies located across Massachusetts. Those nominated are among the more than 360,000 temporary help workers employed annually in the state.
Each year the winner represents a shining example of the American Staffing Association’s (ASA) five key messages highlighting the benefits that temporary work offers. The benefits include:
- the opportunity to have choices about work,
- ability to gain skills and training,
- flexibility when it comes to when and for how long you want to work,
- a chance to try out different jobs, and
- the possibility that it can bridge to fulltime employment.
Julianne has experienced these benefits and remains hopeful that she will bridge to fulltime employment soon. She started working as a Tax Analyst for one of TRC’s clients that provides consulting and technology products/services to major financial institutions and multi-national corporations around the world. She started in November of 2019 and was laid off due to the COVID pandemic in April of 2020. The client requested her back in November of 2020 and she remains on this assignment today.

Here is what Julianne had to say:
I chose temporary work because I wanted to get started on my career path as soon as possible after earning my bachelor’s degree. While I tried to find a permanent role on my own it was much more difficult than I thought. The truth is, the competition for the jobs that I am interested in is very high. While there are jobs available, it takes time to find the right fit. I knew I needed to find someone to advocate for me and stand by me in my job search. That’s what I found that in The Resource Connection. I knew when I first met the people there that, at the very least, I would find more work experience that would help me add to my resume, but I found so much more than that.
